Frequently Asked Questions

Can I pay via PayPal?

Yes.

Are there Learning Objectives for the course material?

Yes, these are not yet on the website, please email info.CBTbridgetochange@gmail.com

Is CPD or Accreditation available for this course?

Sadly the cost of accreditation is currently prohibitive, so this course comes with an attendance certificate which does state the hours of study.

Can I have an invoice for work purposes?

Yes, this is possible, please email info.CBTbridgetochange@gmail.com. The course has a maximum number of participants and your place is not guaranteed until payment has been received, so the delay involved in an invoice may mean the course is full. â€‹

I’m not currently in clinical practice, can I still attend the course?

I guess my summary is, that it's easier to practice with a clinical population around you where you can use the skills. Having said that, some people have found the time easier to join during a maternity leave or between roles and this is allowed. Talk to us.

We all have thoughts, emotions and behaviours, and so a useful place to start can be our own experience; or recollections of patients / carers with interesting ideas from previous clinical work. Some participants have enlisted the help of friends, family, and colleagues for their skills practice, so we do allow people to be creative. Of course, as always there are boundaries and different levels of issue it is appropriate to work with outside work.

So, we never say no, and if the above answer above does not seem helpful, then do email and we can discuss together, the pros and cons of the timing of the course, for your individual circumstances.

I need to miss a session

That is a tricky question and it is a question that I have been asked before and I guess there are two schools of thought.

Firstly, depending on the session, it if it a one off late session, after session three, then by that time you will have a good grounding of skills you can practice, and so to postpone attending that session and join with a later group would be acceptable. It would be different if it were session 1, 2 or 3.

Alternatively we will be advertising other courses for 2026 in due course, once we have a clearer idea of our other commitments, and there is a very good likelihood that there will be an in person course in London during 2026 also.

So I guess it’s a tricky decision, and it is not advised, but for a few it is possible to adapt and then to attend a one off session with a future cohort. Travel plans do often allow people to join from many destinations!

Will I be able to practice as a CBT therapist – what level is the course?

This is a foundation level skills course that teaches skills which can be used as part of a healthcare professionals every-day work. As part of extending their skill and expertise, this course  teaches foundation level knowledge. There is time to practice and use the skills in between sessions. There is no assessment component of the course, and it is not a course that ensures competence is achieved. At the end of the course, it is NOT possible to offer cognitive therapy, or work as a CBT therapist.

The learning objectives (available), are that delegates will be aware of the cognitive therapy model and that they will have had opportunities to practice using it in between online sessions.

In order to be a practicing CBT therapist, do look on the BABCP website, for guidance regarding the accredited qualification. To deliver CBT, this involves a Master's level qualification, with 200 hours of theory and supervised practice to achieve accreditation. This is a very different post-graduate year-long course.

Our course is aimed at skilling up physical health professionals, who already have excellent communication skills, in order to add further skills and tools to what they can achieve within their clinical scope of practice. These skills can assist a professional, whether that be on a one off on-call situation, on a telephone helpline session, or a brief intervention for staff are at the bedside in a hospice, hospital or community setting.

It was certainly the tutors first step and both loved the approach and went on to university to  study more fully!
